Note: The MakerDisk Micro SD Card 64GB comes with preloaded Raspberry Pi OS. You will need to format and install your retro game operating system yourself on the micro SD card.
Note: To operate the RetroFlag GPi Case 2W with Raspberry Pi Zero 2W, you don't need a HDMI Cable. Simply install your retro game operating system and set the wifi network within the operating system using the case itself. After that, you can access your Raspberry Pi Zero 2W filesystem using SSH to do any additional configurations if needed.
Retrogame has been a hit for the Raspberry Pi computer. There are many ready images (games) that you can download and play with the Raspberry Pi main board. You might have heard of our previous RetroFlag GPi Case 2 which uses Raspberry Pi CM4. This brand-new RetroFlag GPi Case 2W uses Raspberry Pi Zero boards which are much cheaper and more beginner-friendly.
The GPi Case 2 is compatible with all Raspberry Pi Zero. However, we recommend Raspberry Pi Zero 2W versions. The reason is that Raspberry Pi Zero 2W has the highest specs compared to other Raspberry Pi Zero, in terms of of processing speed and performance. So you want to make sure that your retro game console has a stable performance to run your retro games!
An Affordable DIY Hand-held Retrogame Console for Raspberry Pi Zero
Specifically designed and made for all variants of Raspberry Pi Zero, wireless or non-wireless. Raspberry Pi Zero has 512 RAM which is enough to handle most retro games. You can build your favorite hand-held retro game console with it. The GPi Case 2W comes with a 3-inch, 640x480 IPS LCD Screen which is more than sufficient for most 8-bit retro games. It is also portable with a 2800mAh Li-ion rechargeable battery included in the case. You can play your favorite games on the go, anywhere! It can be charged via the included DC Power Supply cable.
The Design
The GPi Case 2W also comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack, at the bottom of the case. For gamers, the case comes with an extra Turbo button hotkey to speed up your game!
Easy Installation
One of the great things about the design of the GPi Case 2W is that the Raspberry Pi Zero is enclosed in a cartridge-like casing, which works exactly like the cartridges for a classic retro console! This means that you can set up multiple Raspberry Pi Zero in multiple cartridges, with different OS, and swap it however you want! The assembling process is also simplified and easy. It uses POGO touch pins so that the cartridge pins will touch the Zero GPIO holes, with zero soldering needed.
Note: You need to use Raspberry Pi Zero without the headers as the cartridge POGO pins will act as the header.
